The highest mountain in Uganda, third highest in Africa continent. The highest peak, Margerita is 5,110m. This folded mountain is famous for diversity of nature, it starts with rainforest and ends in glacier just under the equator. Scenery of moss-covered heath forest, swamp with lobelia and slopes with senecio is solemn and mysterious.

The second largest national park in Uganda with 95 species of mammals and 610 species of birds. Savanna in north and south are home for large mammals like lion and elephant, Kazinga Channel is for birds, crocodile and hippo, Kyambura Gorge is for chimpanzee.

Registration and briefing at Nyakalengija Office
After registration process and briefing, meet your guide and porters and hand over your luggages.

Hike from Nyakalengija Office (1,646m) to Nyabitaba Hut (2,652m) / 10km
Walk in beautiful rainforest. Temperature is high so carry 2 litter of drinking water or more, half-sleeve shirts will be suitable for this day. You may encounter pretty birds or chameleons along the trail.

Hike from Nyabitaba Hut (2,652m) to John Matte Hut (3,414m) / 7km
Descend from Nyabitaba Hut to the bridge over Bujuku River, then ascend continuously. You may see Margherita Peak at rocky area far ahead on your left. Thereafter, you will enter mossy heath forest, also find some alpine plants like lobelias and everlasting flowers. Rain boots could be advantageous for this day since the trail is muddy in cloud forest.

Hike from John Matte Hut (3,414m) to Bujuku Hut (3,962m) / 6km
Start walking with rain boots as bogs starts right behind the hut. View of bogs called lower and upper Bigo Bogs with lobelias and senecios are one of the most beautiful scenery in Rwenzori. You will climb a steep slope after the bogs, then find Lake Bujuku which is surrounded by Mt. Baker, Mt. Stanley and Mt. Speke. Scenery of the lake and bogs on its shore is still and mysterious. You may see Margherita Peak from the shore of the lake.

Hike from Bujuku Hut (3,962m) to Kitandara Hut (4,023m) / 5km
A lot of alpine plant like senecios inhabit at the valley between Mt. Baker and Mt. Stanley. You may find twin lake, Kitandara from the valley. It is warmer than Bujuku Hut though they are at the same altitude, because Kitandara Hut is located on southern side of the mountain, also it has more plants and birds.

Hike from Kitandara Hut (4,023m) to Guy Yeoman Hut (3,261m) / 8km
Acsend the Freshman Field up to 4,200m, then start descending. Thereafter, you will enter the bog with many lobelia, then find Guy Yoman Hut along a river.

Hike from Guy Yeoman Hut (3,261m) to Nyabitaba Hut (2,652m) / 6km
After walking through the beautiful heath forest, you descend a very steep fall with river-water. After this rocky area, you will enter rainforest again, though ground remains muddy and slippery. This will be the last night in Rwenzori, it could be a good idea to have dinner with guides and porters.

Boat trip at Kazinga Channel
Take a boat ride along the channel which connects two lakes. Its banks are habitats for reptiles like crocodiles and many species of birds like kingfisher and pelican, also resting place for hippo and buffalo. It starts at 2pm and takes about 2 hours.

Game drive at Mweya
Drive with an open roofed vehicle in vast savanna and look for large mammals like lions, elephants, buffaloes and antelopes. Morning game drive starts at 6:30am, it takes 3-4 hours. Tell your rangers, if you have your favorite mammal before you take off.
